Sub2000 modifications with a purpose

I put on a fiberoptic front sight and just use the "iron" sights. Adding an optic really kills the novelty. I have a red dot on a QD riser but rarely use it. the FO sight does great punching paper at 25yd. The buffer tube cover is also a must. Gonna look into the larger charging handle knob. That cant hurt.

What brand for the front FO sight? Or are they interchangeable with AR's?

Was shooting irons the other day with the sun setting and the glare (and my old eyes) were a horrible combination. Plus, you gotta smash your head against the buffer tube.

But I complete get the part about killing the novelty.

Thanks for making me not want this rifle. I couldnt get my face anywhere near the sights.

Actually, I like the sights. Even with one of my cans I can still use the factory sights.

Yep, but after shooting Sunday I made up my mind that I needed an alternative to using the irons. You don't need any tools to install or remove it so it's a compromise at best.

Midwest Industries makes that fancy twist model but not my jam with the silly string and charging handle thing you have to do.

The buffer tube cover was a must for me. Added butt plate cover for comfort and upgraded charging bolt knob. The sights as you know are terrible but I left mine because I can shoot pretty tight groups with the plastic factory sight. The fiber sight would be better but never got around to it. I added a light to the 3 o clock position so it folds with no problem.

Light would be a plus for home defense.
