Synthetic Oil

That may be the case, but if so there was something wrong with the oil. Or they ripped him and charged for something he didn't get.
No modern engine should fail that way, that early.
But then again they were trying to get out of the expense of replacing an engine, so I don't know that I would take their word on it.

Read post #34 & #35. @Jeddak shows a link in his post (#34) that shows the problem with 2010 model Silverados. I believe if the truth be known that is it. The rep from G M was the one who said the dirt / grit in the oil caused scarring etc. but he approved a new engine replacement at the same time. He had records from day one of that dealership doing every oil change si I figure they will say whatever they have to say to keep from admitting they got a defect /flaw in their design.
 
I have a 2012 tundra, mobile 1 extended mileage oil. 76,000 miles now still feels and runs like new.
