That other thread got me thinking. Has anyone had a case, box or storage container of factory loaded ammo discharge or explode while in transit? Not like "totalled my truck, caught fire and my ammo blew up", but "I dropped an ammo can of .45 ACP off the truck and it just blew up." Anyone?

*even more interested in first hand stories, and less in "I heard about a buddy of mine's friend that dropped a crate of 7.62x39..."

I’m 63, I’ve been shooting since I was 5 or 6 and I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of ammo going off just from being dropped. I’ve heard rounds go off in a house fire when I was 17, house across the street burned to the ground in the middle of the night. Thank God nobody got hurt or died....

I used to shoot a BB gun at primers of both full packages (of 50).22 long rifle rounds, and individual cartridges of 12 gauge, 45 ACP, and 30 carbine.
The detonation of one round does not set off the others .
Heck it usually doesn't even damage any others.
