Finally found a couple bottles I've been hunting for a while!

On initial pours, I much prefer the high rye to the double oak, but both are good. Are the worth what they cost? Hell no. Even considering I got these either at or about as close to msrp as you can find here. Very good, but I have $50-$60 bottles that either stand toe to toe with either one or surpass them.

I am very happy to have finally found both, and in the same store at non-secondary prices to boot, but at this point I don't think they are worth the money to ever buy either bottle a second time.

I bought the original Bee's Knees and it was alright, but never thought they should be like $80+ bottles. I don't get the fandom, but so many people in these FB group absolutely go full on dick suck for shortbarrel...
some of their stuff isnt the best but some are amazing. i've tended to like their ryes alot more, they had a 12 year mgp rye that while expensive was one of hte best ryes i've had in years. im actually going to their release party tomorrow so i can get their twice barreled honey rye. excited to see how that one comes out.

It’s hard to beat MGP juice that’s that old. Where is the release party? Is it an invitation only event?

This week, to celebrate Freedom, I purchased two bourbons.

Wiseman's Kentucky Owl 1916 Confiscated (98%) Straight
and
Henry McKenna's Bottled in Bond 10 year.

The Owl was $120 (over priced vs. the internet), while the McKenna was only $40 (lower than the average internet price).

First and second tastings concur: the McKenna is way smoother. The Kentucky Owl is sharp, harsh, and just average tasting. The McKenna 10 is smooth, has a great mouth feel, and taste much better.

Next time I'll but 3 bottles of McKenna.

YMMMV. God Bless
