Lucked out yesterday and it was Blanton's day. $63 for a bottle, 1 per person. Guess I'm checking in my suitcase.
Only a few actual distilleries in Lexington, mainly James E Pepper and Dark Arts.
Here for work, not bourbon trail, otherwise I'd be going to many more

Dark Arts are putting some really good stuff out right now.
Turkey is within striking distance from Lexington. They just opened their new visitor's center.
Four Roses is next door basically also.
Justin's and Liquor Barn are my two stores to hit when in the Lexington area.

I fly with some of these in case I run into bottles I want to fly back with. Adds some protection to the bottle and also if something happens it seals so it'll keep the liquid from ruining everything else in the bag.

edit: had a thought to try one of my bags since Blanton's is so fat. A Blanton's bottle JUST fits tightly. If there's a box/bag you'd want to fold the box up and pack those separately.

Went to pick up a couple bottles to replace a couple of favorites that were almost empty and decided to pick these up too.

Not overly impressed with the Jack, but it's decent.

The barrel aged shine is pretty good, kinda reminds me of caramel popcorn. Very smooth.

The RD One is double finished in oak and maple barrels. Im a big fan of double oaked whiskeys and liked the other bottle I've got from them so I decided to grab this one. Smells and tastes just like pancake syrup to me. Also extremely smooth. I like this one a lot.

I also ended up with 5 tickets for that store's bourbon raffle. Probably won't get drawn anyway, but they have the raffle bottles marked at actual retail and not secondary pricing, so maybe I get the chance to buy a bottle I otherwise wouldn't consider.

Blanton's is the one that really irritates me. It's literally a $60-70 bottle. Not so good as to be worth more than that. IF you come across a bottle they have it marked up to $200-300. I would never pay anything close to that for that bottle. I like Eagle Rare. It was scarce for a while and places were asking $70-80 a bottle. Not a chance. My local bottle shop seems to be keeping it in stock now and are selling it for $42. I can live with that.

I wouldn't buy Blanton's if it wasn't $63. Definitely not for $100.
Eagle rare is a good choice but yeah, a $40 bottle is about the most I'd pay
I believe today is going to be EHT SB for $45. I'd buy it if I could get out to the distillery, but I doubt I can (bc of work)
