This is some bs!!!

why the hell would anyone go there?

Beautiful area as long as you stay north or east of ny city.
The gun laws suck though.
It's been a long time, but I remember in the mid 80's the carry permit application was about 10 or 15 pages.
Required all kinds of references and other bs.

Its NY bro. The noretheast has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation. Take from a native born New Englander. When I was growing up in Massachusetts my father wanted to get me a 20 gauge shotgun for hunting. You have to go thru a hell of a process to get a gun there. In some case's it can take over a year to be able to acquire a permit JUST TO BUY A GUN. Never mind being able to carry it. When I was working as a security guard at Carter's warehouse in Braselton I knew one of the construction supervisors from New York. He had a carry permit which he had to jump through hoops to get. And it only allowed him to carry to and from the range as well as if he had went hiking or hunting and that was it. And it pretty much only covered his county.

My daughter in law is from upstate NY and her father was a construction supervisor, he also had a carry permit but he told me it damn near took an act of congress to get it 25 years ago. It's 10 times harder to get one now, forget getting one for NY City.

Ammo is fine, no restrictions.
DO NOT ENTER NJ WITH HOLLOW POINTS.

This is true. Do not transport any knife or firearm to NY for your trip. Just don't do it. Roll the dice and use your best judgment. Hell buy a Krav Maga book and study up, but don't take weapons to NYC or NJ. This is from experience.

NY is actually a wonderful state to visit. NY city is one city everyone should see at least once in their life and then stay the hell away. I remember the first time I went to the big apple was back in the day when everytime you stopped at a red light a guy would run out with a newspaper in one hand and a bottle of windex in another and would wash your window and hold out his hand for his "tip". My father always told them to **** off. Ahh good times.

Nope. Won't spend a single ****ing dime in that ****hole.
