This year's gun bill...

It's been assigned to the public safety and homeland security committee. Thats a good start, we had majority suppoet with then last year on hb 512.

Alan Powell is the chairman and was helpful to our cause last year.

Committee hearing is tommorrow! 3-5pm, at 18 Capitol Square SW, Atlanta, GA, 30334 Room 515. The building name is Cloverdale Legislative Office Building (or CLOB for short). The CLOB building is across the street from the capitol, on the south side. Parking is a little difficult if you have never been. You will either have to pay to park in a lot, or try to find an open meter. That is, unless someone knows of some free parking!

Anyway, come show your support! The anti gunners will be there and they will be vocal! Last year you were able to sign up and speak if you wanted to, not sure if it will be the same this year. Even if you don't want to speak, come anyway! I'm going to try to get off work for a couple hours to attend.

Although it is preferred to email each representative one at a time, here is a cheat list for those of you who may not have time to individually send out emails.

alanpowell23@hotmail.com, darlene.taylor@house.ga.gov, alex.atwood@house.ga.gov, Kevin.cooke@house.ga.gov, frazier26@comcast.net, mike.glanton@house.ga.gov, gerald.greene@house.ga.gov, dustin.hightower@house.ga.gov, bill.hitchens@house.ga.gov, scott.holcomb@house.ga.gov, mack.jackson@house.ga.gov, eddie.lumsden@house.ga.gov, willie.talton@house.ga.gov, keisha.waites@house.ga.gov

Remember, just like with you and I, it is more personal and means more to receive an individual email. A "mass email" is more generic, but it is definitely better than nothing. Let them know that you support the bill, and if you are so inclined, let them know why.

Urgent News: TWO hearings tomorrow, Weds Feb 5, 2014

3 p.m. Wednesday Feb 5th -- TWO HEARINGS
HB 875 and SB 280

Very late breaking news: It was just announced today (Tuesday) that the hearing on House Bill 875 - guns on campus, in bars, houses of worship, in government buildings, and more - will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb 5th from 3:00pm - 5:00pm in the Coverdell Building, Room 515.

This bill would, among other things, override current restrictions on carrying concealed weapons on all 31 public college campuses. Should a concealed carry permit holder be caught with a gun in class, the punishment would only be a fine of up to $100.00. The legislation further specifies that offenders "shall not be arrested."

Guns will be allowed in K-12 schools, in houses of worship, bars and government buildings. And, there's more.

Tomorrow morning, please CALL Rep. Alan Powell, Chair of the Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee and say NO to HB 875.

Call: Rep. Alan Powell - 404.463.3793

If at all possible, please attend the hearing for HB 875, and bring as many people with you as possible. We know that Georgia Carry LOVES this bill, and they will show up.
Come as early as 2 pm, because seating is limited, and we want to demonstrate our determination by being there in large numbers.

DATE: February 5th, Wednesday - tomorrow !!
TIME: 3:00pm - 5:00pm (This will last one hour more than the Senate hearing)
WHERE: Room 515 Coverdell Building (across from the Gold Dome)

At the same time, there will be a hearing on SB 280, which aims to repeal Georgia’s Stand Your Ground Law.

DATE: February 5, Wednesday - tomorrow!!
TIME: 3:00pm - 4:00pm
WHERE: Room 307 Coverdell Building (across from the Gold Dome)

You will need a photo ID to enter the Coverdell Building (also true for entering the State Capitol Building). You will also need to empty your pockets, put your purse/briefcase etc through a scanner, and pass through a metal detector.
Please allow time for this, as there may be a large number of people, and only one entrance. You might want to consider arriving at the Coverdell Building by 1:30 pm

Please also be aware that in order to get a seat inside the hearing room(s), you will need to arrive well in advance.

If you are not sure which hearing you want to attend, or where you are needed the most, come to Room 307 by 2 p.m.
We will have a limited number of stickers to identify yourself as being in support of gun safety.

The Campaign To Keep Guns Off Campus - Georgia
2 hours ago
ACTION ALERT - Say NO to House Bill 875

It was announced just today that House Bill 875 will be heard in committee tomorrow, Wednesday, February 5th @ 3:00pm. This bill is considered to be the most aggressive legislation, at state level, that relaxes or dismantles existing concealed firearms restrictions - in the country.

HB 875 will change the current campus carry law in this way:

Should a concealed carry gun be brought onto school grounds, the offense would be punishable only by a fine of up to $100. The bill further specifies that offenders "shall not be arrested."

So, carrying a loaded, concealed gun onto campuses in Georgia would no longer be a criminal offense. And there's much more.

Tomorrow, please call Rep. Alan Powell, chair of the Public Safety and Homeland Security and say No to this dangerous legislation.

CALL: Rep. Alan Powell - 404.463.3793
COME to the committee hearing:
3:00pm - 5:00pm, Room 515 CLOB

Help us STOP HB 875 !!!

The deception, exaggerations, and out right lies are consistent with antigunners. Be advised they will have a showing at the hearing to protest. You just being there in support of hb875 speaks volumes. There will be a gentleman there handing out some orange "Guns save lives" buttons. Go see him and get a button to wear. That is your yes vote. And when you get a chance, talk to him or another orange button wearer about georgiacarry.org They helped craft this great bill and have restored our gun rights immensely over the past several years. We need to stay unified to overcome the anti gun "special" groups.
