Thoughts on BMW Cars...

Alright, here's a few I'm looking at. Pretty settled on the early 2000's 3 series. I think that'd be a good "starter" B'mer and thats all I want to spend right now. May move up to a v8 M5 later on after I catch on to the German way of engineering. Or I may hate the whole experience and jump back in a Honda lol. One thing I keep seeing over and over is the drivers seat pretty much falls apart after 100k miles. Thats not cool but I know a good upholstery guy in East Point. I've also added the term "vanos" to my vocab. New term and concept both for me. Hope I never need to know any more about it.

Any chance you'd share your upholster's contact info? The driver's side seat on my Z could use some touch-up, hoping he can work on a BMW red leather interior

Banisters. I've never had them redo a seat but I used to get all my seat belt webbing from him when I restored my truck. Also would get my hog rings and other hardware for covering my own seats. Great work though and he's been there for years.

Cool, I wonder if they could also do the fabric headliner that attaches to the retractable top, it has developed tears on the left and right sides when retracting over the roll-bars; no one on the BMW forums has been able to address, would be nice if they could knock it all out at once.

I had two and they were the most fun I have ever had with my pants on. 320i and a 2002 tii.

If you are worried about maintenance, get a Honda.

Thoughts on a BMW....

Don't get the hype...most of them run from kinda ugly to just nothing special.

They cost how much?!?! Piss on THAT!

Yuppie mobile...or wannabe yuppie mobile.

At least it's not a Volvo.

If you're going to buy German....get real and buy a Mercedes.

Say! That teeny tiny one is kinda cool. Doubt it's very comfortable though.

Not worried about the task of doing the maintenance. I can learn my way through that. Plus I've got access to google and AllData, both of which have bailed me out many times. I got the tools, the garage and the hands. Just need someone to help hold that stupid trouble light still for me.

No hype here. I've always loved the way they look. $4-5k for a BMW with 100k miles or less not a reasonable price for what you're getting? Maybe, maybe not. Thats Mr Wannabe Yuppie to you sir. Yeah Volvos blow goats in the looks dept. Not interested in Merc's. Seriously, you should see what I drive right now and you would realize what is and what is not uncomfortable. My cheeks wouldn't know what to think after sitting in a german crafted leather seat.
