Ticket in Madison...advice?

I know most the people are saying just pay it. If you feel like you were wronged fight it. Last ticket I got over 10 years ago I challenged it the cop did not show it got dismissed. Can't hurt

these days it seems like they want the money more than ever, I had a lawyer try to lower mine and he told me that that was their revenue generator and they did not give it up easily

That does suck and it is sad that it is true but still worth fighting. Arguing is in my nature my wife told me I should have been a lawyer

If your final speed you were cited for was truly 14 or under, you don't have to worry about anything as far as points or insurance goes. It isn't reported because it doesn't carry points. So its really just the money and honestly that's all they want anyways.

If you truly want to fight it, don't go in there with a sob story that you couldn't see your speedo, or it might be off (that's actually an offense its self). They've heard it all and will just send you on your way and you just wasted your time for nothing.

If you really want to beat it, and its worth your time, order this - http://thegeorgiaspeedingticketkiller.com/home.php
These types of cases where your speed is 14 or under are actually good ones to practice on, because even if you lose, you are only out the money which you were going to pay anyways if you didn't fight it. You really have no risk vs just paying it. Its kind of cool to see how traffic courts actually work, especially when you are armed with the info that CD gets you and you really catch them not following the law like they are supposed to.

Even if you don't fight it, that CD is well worth ordering anyways just to have for your own general knowledge. It's specific to GA, has all kinds of scenario's, tons of case laws for different issues, and everything laid out in a very easy to understand way. I own it, have met the guy personally that wrote it, and have seen it work several times in court.

Plead Nolo Contendere, pay the fine and let it go.

Why would he use Nolo in this case? It can only be used once every 5yrs(?) and the only thing it does is help you from going over your points if you are near the limit. The OP stated he has not had a ticket in over a decade and this infraction carries no points. It would be a total waste to use it in this case and accomplishes nothing?

Last ticket I had was in Roswell. Judge let me do a little community service and they let it go provided I did not get another ticket I think in a year or so. I did pay a small court fee but it is not on my record.
