Recently picked up a "Gen 2 POF"??? piston AR that looks to have been spray painted. Any suggestions as to the best way to remove the paint, just not my thang... Also, any info as to what this critter actually is?? I have found no markings on the upper yet. TIA, ox.

Carb cleaner (brake cleaner works too, it just dries up way too fast). I normally just spray some carb cleaner into the cap off the can, get a cheap set of tooth brushes from the dollar store and go to town.

I have put parts in a shallow tub as well since it make a HUGE mess when you remove paint. Also, do it in a well ventilated area like outside or in your garage with a fan blowing the fumes outside.

You and your spouse will thank yourself later. On the optic, I just put some on a rag and wiped off the paint being sure not to get any on the lenses.

It takes time, but will come off.
