To grease or not to grease your trailer hitch ball

Only once, on a heavy ass trailer w/ a stove up coupler. But, I'd bet my daddy probably does. Everytime I borrow a trailer, the wheel hubs need to be greased. Or maybe that is his way of saying, leave my trailer alone?
 
I do - use reese hitch ball grease. Just a little dab on top o da ball and done.
Just reduces friction but really only needed for heavy towing applications. Just slows down the wear on the coupler.
This, and slap a cover on it, stays greased.
 
Yep . Put a little on it. Trailer has bout 350lb tongue weight. Keep an eye on the retaining nut. They will work loose. More so if you don't grease the ball. You can drill and pin them or spot weld them
