To grease or not to grease your trailer hitch ball

Here’s an honest answer.

Never. I suppose one could, would make for a quieter ride. I don't want the grease smeared all over the inside of my toolbox when my hitch is put away.

I do on my 2 7/8" ball that's used to pull my 8500 lb camper. It's loud as hell if I don't.

My 2" ball I don't though.
