Never have, but have wondered about touch up paint for cleaning up the rust. Would using a rust converter then oil based spray paint work?

When I pulled a loaded trailer regularly, I always used a little bit of Permatex Anti-Seize. Keeps the creaks and squeaks down, and can make backing up a distance easier. Especially if you have a load you can't balance that's a bit heavy on the tongue.

Just a good lubing with a little vaseline is all that's needed!

I lube mine with air and rain water & car paint when a car hits me in the rear end.
