Tree Stand Safety

Hunting season is upon us and we need to remember the #1 cause of injuries and deaths associated with hunting; falls from tree stands. I urge everyone to buy a safety harness and use it every time you are in a tree. There are many excuses we come up with, it is uncomfortable, it looks gay, it takes too much time to put on, it is noisy, it hampers me from ascending or descending quickly enough, I am not climbing that high, it is just a ladder stand; none of these are legitimate. Teach your children to use a safety harness just as you have taught them to use a seat belt every time they get in a car. Tie off every time you climb into a tree stand and teach your child to do the same; the life you save may be your childs.

I dont take tree stand seriously, and I know I should. This is the first year in a tree stand for me. I have been hunting during archery. I dont have a strap and I think that I am just way to lazy to strap up anyway. Hopefully I dont learn the hard way!
