Exactly. I was looking for something like that for the same purpose, till I traded into the Sig 556 pistol. I love the m1, it's a great utility rifle. It was my only "assault weapon" for years till I caught AR fever.

If you decide to lay in some more mags here's a link for $12.95. There may be cheaper ones out there, but I couldn't find them.
