Unwelcomed Suprise at Adventure Outdoors

Regardless of the fee, after picking a firearm out, the guy takes twenty minutes to get a 4473, then 30 to find the box in the back of the warehouse, then escorts you to the counter, then you fill out more paperwork, then a supervisor checks the 4473, then when you leave yet another guy checks your receipt upon exit..and finally..

That's way longer than any time I've gone there... From the time I decide to walking out the door is usually 15-20 minutes or so. I did once get stuck with a cashier who I'm pretty sure was stoned, and took about 30 minutes to process a single person in line before a manager noticed and took him off the register. Never saw that one again.

They do go through a lot of paperwork checks, mainly because they are the #1 ATF target in GA. Bloomberg has called them out by name as 'gun runners' simply because of the volume they do.

That’s some thing people with no finance experience say. Just finance it they say. It’s only 10 a month. Yeah that’s $120 dollars a year . That adds up. I’m not going to pay more just because . I work hard for every cent so I’m not about to get had all because someone wants to pass off their business expenses on me.

I’ll be happy to dump some fees of mine off on anyone here who will take them. Anyone ?

I buy a fair amount of guns there, so I still have a check book that I use for them and a few other things. If I ran into something there I had to have though, and I only had a card, I wouldn't let the $10-15 extra bucks worry me. Like I said, if you can't afford that 3% extra you can't afford the purchase itself.

I don't think the OP mentioned whether they were going to finance it or just pay the card off. This is a one time purchase though, so there's no $120. It would be $12-13 depending on what they paid for the gun.

And BTW, I've taken 3 years of Accounting and implemented GLs at two different companies... 'no financial experience' my butt... LOL

I abandoned AO years ago. I went with another member here to buy a pistol, and 3.5 hours and a ton of BS later we were out the door (they were NOT busy). The next afternoon they call him and tell him he had to come back in the next day before 5 and refile a 4473 because they couldn't read their own handwriting. He told them he didn't have time the next day and it would be the upcoming weekend before he could get back, it's about an hour drive for us to get there. They told him if he didn't come in the next day before 5, they were going to report the gun stolen!
Id be tempted to let them do that lol, inform the atf they sold you a stolen gun (kidding of course because **** atf amd their games)

I actually went on a slow day too, parking lot was empty, customers scarce. It was the longest gun purchase through a dealer I have ever done.
I work at a local gun store and process 4473s daily myself

AO moves like pond water

Yep, you have the receipt, so they must have sold you a stolen gun. If he had the receipt and it has the serial number on it, they don't have a leg to stand on. I believe they paperwork is supposed to be complete before you pay. So they are at fault for not properly handling the forms.
