Saw it with my father. My oldest sister played patient advocate and I guarantee you he lasted as long as he did because of her interventions on multiple occasions.

So the take away from this is that those countries with socialized medicine can't afford for it's citizens to actually get old and need them. Damn! Sounds a lot like insurance companies, don't it?

My wonderful mother in law is English. She still has sisters in jolly old England, one of which has a bead hip and needs a replacement.

It takes 6 weeks to get a steroid shot and 12-18 months for a replacement.

In the USofA you can get a steroid shot the same day and a total hip replacement within weeks to one month (or less).

Follow the socialists’ cry for social medicine and we’ll all be crying in pain.

My mom is going in for a pretty significant heart procedure Friday early am. We don't trust the hospital system with her and had planned to stay with her around the clock between me, my brother, and sister. Just found out they're putting "Covid Protocol" in place kicking visitors out from 8p-8a. Not saying the staff are not good, just that the system is spread too thin. She needs someone there for her. You've got to be your own advocate now-a-days. Is there any way to fight this?

Update - mom came home yesterday. Things got crazy and she ended up in the CVICU for 4 days, but things are looking up now and we were able to stay with her during the ICU visiting hours. Her main nurse Heather was an angel and they took exceptional care of her.
