Love the look. Just finished cutting this down for a buddy, to go in his home defense Remington 870. Just a hair over 18.5”.

He wanted a plain ol’ bead, so I ordered one. When it comes in, I’ll drill and tap the rib for it.

I normally cut these down in my buddy’s shop, but I didn’t want to leave the house, so I did it the old fashioned way; with hand tools. Cut it off with a hacksaw, cleaned it up with a file, stones, and finally emery cloth. Use a square to make sure the end was even all the way around.

I was going for a sorta 70s Coulda Been in a Burt Reynolds Movie Look with this one.
S&W model 1000P with Choate 2 round extension.

Got to be honest and I hate to show my age or ignorance but I have no idea what event ribs for. I do have a new mossy that was 28 inches and cut down to just a hair over 18.5 and I like the tactical look with the rib.

Not sure of the original purpose of the vent rib barrel. But the major difference they wound up making was to get Fudds to pay MORE for a better looking version of the same shotgun "Back in 'da day".
