I was looking around the local shop today and found an old WASR. I don’t know much about them but I’ve read they’re substantially better than people used to believe. It has the stereotypical front sight can’t, and the trigger itself is surprisingly thin. Does anyone know of this is a good deal at $400? Am I buying a potential problem rifle? I’ve read all over the place that they run like crazy, and forever. I’ve listed some pictures so hopefully I can get a REAL experts opinion. Thanks!

Could be a good snag. No magazine dimples and no threaded barrel. Check magazine fit with a few different mags if they’ve got them around, poly, steel, Bakelite etc. if they lock up tight the internal magazine rails were welded on correctly and the original single stack magazine well was opened up to accept double stack magazines correctly.

The can’t isnt a huge issue is the front sight drum pushed far to one side? Previous owner may have zeroed it before you, and regardless of cant was able to zero the weapon.

Inspect your rivets and rivet heads for cracks or any major gaps between the receiver

400.00? I’d probably buy it.

Not entirely sure about the details on the front sight, but here’s wha it looks like.

It's the very first WASR-10 came in after the sunset of the AWB in 2004, a little before the 10/63 WASR's came in.

This one is nothing in quality compared to the "new" WASR-10 that came in 2013 through present.

I would not consider this a "steal". Is it a good value ? Well, it's probably what it's worth if it's #F'd up and you have to cut in half to sell the parts.

Just so you know.

Very well, that’s what I was looking for right there! Thanks my friend.

Yeah! SeE how the windage drum is pushed extreme left? That’s to compensate for the cant. Here’s the good news. Even if the front site base is so canted that adjustment didn’t zero perfectly, you can swap your rear leaf site out for a Russian, or Yugo, adjustable rear sight and compensate with that as well.

400.00 is a good price. I stand by my suggestion to buy.

I would not consider this a "steal". Is it a good value ? Well, I would want to thoroughly inspect it, worse case $400 is probably what the kit is worth if it's you have to cut in half because it''s #F'd.

What would you believe would be Fd up on it if mags are locking in tight, Rivets aren’t cracked or bulged, Weapons able to be zeroed? Heat treat issues? Head space issues?
400.00 AK? Good luck finding another
