A thread to show off all your hard work. Keep all those old time food preservation skills alive.

That's awesome. I've got a full canning set up, but haven't had the time to even try it out yet.

Building a homestead from scratch is a ton of work. Maybe next year I can get the garden in and have something to can.

Did you water bath or pressure cook them?

I just got a pressure canner. On biker bills recommendation I went with a large presto. Cost me about $80. However, I water bath canned these. Peach jam and applesauce. Can't wait to try the pressure method. I'll keep posting pics and lessons learned as I go.

I need someone to show me how to do this. I can remember doing this over 30 years ago with my grandfather but that wasn't enough to sink it to small child's brain.. Just a memory now..

Ask your questions, I'll help. I've been canning for years.
Today I canned 18 pints of Italian green beans and 6 quarts of Italian Beef (Venison) Vegetable soup.

The stash is now;
Diced tomatoes
Green beans
Muscadine Jelly
Peach Jam
Candied Apples
Sweet pickled peppers
Hot pickled Okra
White potatoes
Italian Beef Vegetable Soup
