What did you neglect in your preps?

Sorry I had to do it. You definitely have to be careful with Amazon and OEM parts. Best thing to do is read through the reviews and see if anyone mentions knockoffs. I’ve been burnt on some Honda parts from them that said OEM but were cheap knockoffs

Oddly the knockoff throttle/brake harness I ordered from Amazon for a Toro Walk behind was better than the OEM.

This is what I can't understand. My yard didn't even get really soggy. My house backs up to Army Corps Property that houses a lake that is fed by two creeks. The lake rose about two feet but nothing even came close to flooding. No water on the roads...nothing.

But then 20 minutes south of me in Buckhead, you had four to five foot tall walls of water coursing through neighborhoods.

I guess I just don't understand how things flood and why they do and don't. Same storm, same amount of rain. I suppose it's topography on some level. Peachtree Creek isn't even that big...how did it get that much water in it?
If you've lived in Atlanta all your life, you understand that Peachtree Creek floods....mainly due the the development, however also due to terrain, it cannot handle the amount of water that is collected through it's tributaries...nothing changes but the development...it will ALWAYS flood, however folks pay $1,00,000's to live there...it's really a non event....

They are Ham radio's so you get a good distance, especially if you can program into repeaters ( not an expert)
EXACTLY...you've got to be a God Damn expert just to listen to one of these...forget "programing"...even if you leaned...would you remember 5 years later.....it's crazy....when you look at all these great radios.. the "programing" requires a book...I simply cannot do it

Long term storage containers are different and have a much longer shelf life ( the water usually goes bad before the plastic)

He's talking about reusable milk jugs.

Yes especially the milk jug style water. The thin, bargain bottles of water expire as well.

If you buy one of those 5 gallon water jerry cans and store it empty until needed will it stay safe to fill with potable water just before shutdown?
Yea that will do just fine. You can also store around 60- 70 gallons in your bathtub.
In my opinion the best long term option is having chlorine bleach on hand. The rule of thumb I know is 10 drops per gallon.

Rotate it. Use it in your car or truck after six months, refill fuel jug.

Non ethanol in the fuel jug. No stabilizer needed as long as you rotate.
This.

And consider propane conversion for your gas generators. You will lose a little power but propane is much easier to store large volume and cheaper
