What is the official word on mailing a pistol in state?

Don't know if it was legal or not, but last year I bought a pistol from a fellow member that lived near St. Marys. He sent it to me in a ordinary USPS priority mail shipping box through USPS. From there it went through Jacksonville, Fla. and then here.

Have the seller take it apart, mark and ship as Auto parts, no lies are told since it's an Auto. :thumb:

Yeah, that works really well, until part of it gets lost, and then you make a claim, and then the feds read the laws about insurance fraud, and shipping contents contrary to a shipper's published tariffs (both felonies). And suddenly that $40 you saved, doesn't look like such a bargain.

But it's definitely a plan,

Back to the OP, an FFL gets much cheaper rates on the common carriers. If you are tight with an FFL, they should be willing to ship for you at cost, or a small service charge,. If they tell you they have to charge for the "transfer" because they have to log it into their book, look for another FFL.

So if u go to FedEx to ship and notify them it is a gun,how will they know If are shipping to an ffl or not?

Because the FFL has to file paperwork with Fed Ex, UPS, USPS to show that it is an FFL so that it can ship and receive firearms. The shipping works both ways, and without the paperwork, the FFL can't ship to an individual.
