What is wrong with me?

Smith makes some pretty revolvers but if you want something to actually use that will take any abuse that you throw at it there is no substitute for a Ruger. Pretty much every revolver that they make is over-engineered to the point of almost being ridiculous. They have cylinders that are deeper than standard specifically to cater to the reloading crowd and they are strong enough to eat loads that will make a smith cry like a baby and warp it's cylinders. This is even true of the little SP101s as long as you don't mind a ridiculous amount of recoil because it's such a tiny platform.

For a 357 carry revolver they don't make them much better than either the Ruger SP101 or the sw 640

Good morning gun lovers. Something is going on with me that's never happened before. I have been a gun lover for most of my life. I love anything that goes bang but especially the black stuff. I am a huge fan of the M&P series and I am well on my way to having the complete set. I love AR's and anything that I can shoot more than 20 times without reloading. And oh the 1911... she was my first love. I'll never go a day in my life without owning at least 1. The sheer essence of firearm beauty. A true piece of American artwork.

But lately, I have been craving a wheel gun. It all started accidentally. I was looking at some gun porn and came across a smoking hot Smith and Wesson M327 Night Guard. She took my breath away. So I did a quick Google search of "Snub Nose Revolvers." I then spent hours lusting over them to the point of salivation. Like a needle in the arm of a junkie, I am hooked. I have got to have one, I must give the fully loaded cylinder of a scantly clad .357 Magnum a spin then mercilessly unload all 8 of them 1 after the other. I don't know if ever wanted anything so bad.

If anyone would be so kind as to help me scratch this itch and hook me up with a snub nosed wheel gun preferably in .357. For a reasonable price I would be ever so grateful. If you can't sell me one at least explain to me why all of the sudden I am so drawn to them, especially after all the years I've overlooked them.

MGill,I will post pics of my dad's I frame and J frame first. These are, by far, my two favorite Smiths. I cannot remember my dad not having the I frame. It was the first gun I shot. The J frame M49 was my dad's last Smith. These are special to me. Not expensive, but priceless to me. Then there is the M37, airweight nickel, and the M642 I carry, with my dad's holster.

Until you realize wheel guns are garbage. Timing issues, bunch of little delicate parts that wear down and no longer lock up like they did when they were new. Junk.

brainchill, I would tend to agree with you on the Ruger, but Dan Wesson also made revolvers that were over engineered. I would never say that a S&W is stronger than a Ruger, but my preference is a S&W. I tend to shoot the loads that are recommended in any handgun and do not shoot hot loads. I guess if you hand load and want a bigger load, then a Ruger is the ticket. The Ruger may be stronger, but the S&W is strong enough for me. I just think the S&W revolvers are the best looking revolvers. But, to each his or her own.

Thanks Bypass. The good news is you do not have to own one. Until your money pays for my guns, your opinion is just your opinion and has no bearing on what I buy. But thanks for joining in.

heh. I dont own any wheelguns anymore. I want one again :( thanks a lot.

I think your confusing taurus revolvers with every other one. Every smith I owned, beat to crap or not worked flawless.
