Very close second favorite is the 5.45x39...in both AK and AR flavors.

38 special in a carbine, with 148 grain wadcutters at 600 fps, and .22.

Mine would be my S&W 629 Backpacker 3" in my right hand and my wife's S&W 629 Lew Horton 3" Mag n ported in my left hand.
My other favorites are 22, 380, 38spc, and 223.

Uhhh 22 lr......duh.
Its the firearm I first used and the one that got me started on the love of it all.
With my ancient Stevens single shot a box of 50 would last for hours of fun.

17hmr,love shooting quarter size tagets at 200 yards. Also its fairly quiet and cheap.
