what rifle to pick deer hunting

Of those you listed, the 30-30 is the best choice. I have hunted deer with a variety of weapons...my first kill as a kid was with a .243......my tried and true weapon of choice today for deer hunting is a winchester .280 I have even taken a saskatchewan buck years ago with a 300 mag, overkill maybe but it weighed 220 lbs....
good calibers: .243, .270, .280, 30-06, 25-06, 30-30, 50 cal muzzle loader

Another vote for the 336 30-30. I am so happy to see the results of this thread. I can't stand it when a local boy asks this question on a national forum and all the Yanks knock the 30-30. The 336 is weapon of choice in the thick stuff we got down here.

I use a 25-06, 100 grain, none have taken more than a few steps, no kick eitherGun). The nagant would be my choice, the others are fine also. Shot placement is the most important facet. Good luck this year.

Where ya huntin? No doubt the 30/30 is a good general purpose machine but either one of your other options will transfer more energy downrange. Not knockin any of your choices but I've seen a 303 put the smackdown on a deer.
