What scope for a 22LR ?

I like the Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25 because the parallax is 15 yards to infinity. So you can really clear up super close targets with it. Perfect for training with the little ones.

I put a Strike Eagle on my Bergara B14R. Wanted it to be as close as I could get to the function and reticle of my 308 bolt rifle (Razor). But it's a great optic for a 22lr or more.

I did the same! I have a Gen 3 Razor w/ EBR-7D on my 6.5. So I put a Strike Eagle on my 223 trainer!

I never found parallax error to be a real life problem --on paper it seems like it would be an issue but I found that my own wobble area or the pulse of my heartbeat shaking the gun moves the crosshairs much more than any parallax error does. (that is assuming you've got a good full view through the scope and the crosshairs are in sharp focus.)

My three favorite scopes that have ever been on 22 rifles were all 1970s to 1980s vintage deer hunting scopes, 1" tubes, 32mm to 40mm front (objective) lenses, fixed 4X power, glass lenses not plastic, made in Japan, and I'm sure they were parallax set from the factory at 100 yards, which is not my normal distance for shooting 22 rimfire.

Parallax is a real problem if not set properly and moving your head between shots further exacerbates the issue. I've seen several minutes of shift. Easily hit and miss difference at range and very much opens up groups at even just 100 yards. Easy tell? There are 2 distinct groups.

Sweet 22 on all mine never had an issue with them losing zero

I like the Athlon Helos BTR Gen 2 6-24x56 personally have one on a CZ 457 and a Ruger 10/22. Good field of view clear glass and easy holds.


Arken EP5 or Vortex Venom FFP EBR-7C 5-25x56 would be my next suggestion

I have the Helos BTR gen ll 6-24×56. It's a great scope. Very clear with bright Illumination. I have it on my 6.5 PRC. I have shot it out to 350 yards with excellent results. Vortex is a good one to look at as well. The Helos is a heavy scope. I have a Vortex Diamondback Tactical on my Weatherby 25-06 it's a 4-12×40 and it's a nice light scope.

So, I purchased this Savage because my daughter has taken my other ( I also liked this better, lol)

But I need a scope. My other Savage has a BSA scope, so I'm not against cheap, but I'd rather have a scope that matches this Savage.

Not looking to go crazy but around $500 or less for a dedicated 22LR scope.

That is incorrect. And you still need to set the parallax properly
