What vehicle would you buy to drive 85 miles a day in Atlanta?

There are some cool wireless speakers available now as well. Kinda Hillbilly, but sounds like a theater.

with those parameters- a 2wd ext cab S10 with a blown engine and straight solid body
put in a new 4banger and auto trans, new AC and brake system
upgraded seat and good tires I would keep an extra spare tire in the bed with basic tools and the extended cab part would be stocked with supplies for being stranded. The longer wheel base will ride better and have a bigger tank. Maybe upgrade the rear bumper.

I bought a new 1999 GMC Sonoma with the 4 cylinder and 5 spd. About drove the wheels off of it and sold it to a buddy on here who drove it even more. Kinda small but that was a damn good truck.

But I’m well beyond the buy something and fix it up stage for a daily driver. I just want to buy something dependable. Drive it. Sell it at some point and repeat.

I hear ya - I would feel safer in something not low to the ground like a small car
There still some good deals on 4cyl trucks out there

Smart move. My Mom likes Camrys SO much she bought an 09 from a friend and I wound up with the Corolla.
I got to drive the 09 for a day to see how it would shake out and I must say...I'm starting to see why old folks drive so slow. Old as that Camry is it still drives like a dream. It's quiet inside and it shifts smooth, steers easy with one finger. A/C blows whatever temp you want and wherever you want it to blow. It makes you relax behind the wheel. Makes you wave other drivers around when they ride your ass. I know it's a Toyota but can we still call this " The Buick Effect"?
"Go around! What's your damn hurry?! "

Bought a 2003 Toyota Camry in 2019 for $2k with 265,000 miles. Sold in 2022 with 278,000 miles for $2400. It was my airport beater. Originally did a 145 miles round trip, then moved, and the round trip went up to 230 miles every single week.

My Wife has one goin on 400k miles. I don't like it for a road trip, it'll beat you up. But for around town it's great. V6 so it does well

Back in 2011ish we wound up with my Mom's old 04 LE model. It had around 220K when we got it. When it finally gave up it showed almost 330K . And honestly if I'd stayed on top of the oil changes and basic maintenance better it might still be running.
Out of the half dozen Camrys Mom has owned only one was a V6. I still remember my stepfather saying "The V6 ain't good for nothing but gettin' your Mama speeding tickets and drinking more gas."
On top of that I tend to shy away from front drive V6 cars due to maintenance and repair costs. Not saying anything bad about the Toyota V6. It has long since proven itself.
