What vehicle would you buy to drive 85 miles a day in Atlanta?

Back in 2011ish we wound up with my Mom's old 04 LE model. It had around 220K when we got it. When it finally gave up it showed almost 330K . And honestly if I'd stayed on top of the oil changes and basic maintenance better it might still be running.
Out of the half dozen Camrys Mom has owned only one was a V6. I still remember my stepfather saying "The V6 ain't good for nothing but gettin' your Mama speeding tickets and drinking more gas."
On top of that I tend to shy away from front drive V6 cars due to maintenance and repair costs. Not saying anything bad about the Toyota V6. It has long since proven itself.
My Wife wanted the acceleration to get into traffic. Still does well. That's why I call it a skate board. Zips around all over town. I have a friend who's sister got 450K on a 4cyl manual. The head gasket started leaking and she traded it in. I think I'd considered fixing it being what's available today. Both cars are 2000 models.
Before this car, she drove the old Chevy Impala, Crown Vic and Marquise. She'd only get 100k miles on them

My Mom has a lead foot and I'm told I got that from her. Believe it or not when she left my father back in 74 she got custody of me and a dark blue Plymouth GTX with the 440. That's the first thing my dickhead stepfather got rid of in 75.
But yeah I probably would have tried the head gasket fix too. Again if it had been V6 hell no. But not that bad on a 4 cylinder .

🤣The gremlins are inside.......
You're right I was thinking about the Pacer. Believe it or not, and this is a true fact, they made a V8 Pacer which was the fastest production car in that year. I can't remember what year it was but it was for sure the fastest.

Speaking of gremlins here is one for ya. When I was in high school and had that 67 Plymouth Belvedere everybody and their neighbor wanted to beat me. I never lost a race. We hung around with these two Air Force guys that were stationed out of Altus Air Force Base which was about a 40 minute ride from our town. Craig Froman had T- bucket with LT1 in it. His buddy went out and bought a V8 gremlin and did a lot of work on it just to try to beat me. I'm mopped the the drag strip with that car. He was so pissed off. We got a big kick out of that. Thing is he put a posi trac rear in it, changed out the motor to a Chevy 350 and put a lot of money in it. I think Froman told me that he had put about 5 or $6,000 ( in 1984 that was a lot of money ) in the engine and rear differential just to try to outrun me. He wasted his time, his money and the worst of it is all he had was a Gremlin when he was done! 🤣🤣🤣

She's an old Rally racer too. In a BMW. She still has that old beamer best I know. She was having trouble commuting back and forth to Virginia.
