What was your 'dead unicorn'?

Desert Eagle .50 AE, shot a friends a few times. It is a cool rig, but it made me realize that most of my wants are just ''I want to shoot that a few times''.

Same with the 44 mag DE. I concur that my wants can also turn quickly into " (how much was that a round?) one mag im good! "

Sig P226.. Don't get me wrong.. I still think its one of the best handguns ever made and I love mine... But then I got my 9mm 1911 and realized that its just so much more what I wanted the sig to be.. So much more comfortable to shoot.. that being said I am 10x more accurate with the sig than I am my Llama 9mm 1911.. I love the trigger on the sig (but could see where I might like the SRT better), the feel isn't horrible for a double stack (though the grip still feels a little fat to me, but its one of the few I can comfortably hold), but I'm a little bit of a sissy about recoil because I have trouble getting back on target.. my eyes have difficulty returning to focus and I can get back on target with the reduced recoil of the 1911 SOOO much faster.

I say I won't get rid of the sig (Im already spending money on sights and thinking about a cerakote to make it my gun) But for the right 9mm Commander 1911, anything's possible. I bought it specifically for steel challenges

M1 Garand. Always wanted one, never have made it happen. The M1 Garand will never be "meh" to me. Oh, and a war time BAR...My holy grail gun.

I feel the same exact way about ARs. Every once in a while I think "I must be missing something, they are so popular" etc etc
But I just hate everything about them. I have traded every ar I have ever owned for an ak pattern rifle.
Taking both platforms to the range at the same time really set it in stone for me.
They haunt me too. 9/10 my post says trade for ak pattern rifles, 10/10 I get offered an AR.

This. The 7.62x39 is just awesomeness. You have got to love an AK.

I wanted an AK-74 up until surplus 5.45 dried up or got to expensive but I still may get one if they keep getting cheaper. Also the M1 Garand, I can never seem to get down to Annsiton and I don't want to pay what the resellers want.

Beretta M9. Waited a year for a deal, couldnt find one so i bit the bullet and bought a new one. I guess i loved the thought of shooting it more than owning one. Traded it away after about 6 mags or so...
