I'm new to the site and just bought my first shotgun. It's a used 12g beretta 390 and I'm excited to shoot some clays and eventually take it hunting. My question is this: where can I take my gun and pattern it to see how it performs with different chokes/loads? I live in Atlanta and normally shoot pistols/rifles at indoor ranges so I'm not familiar with any places. I have seen a map of WMA outdoor ranges but they are all pretty far. Is that going to be my best option? Are there any private places that are not super expensive? I realize there might not be anything really close but I'd like to hear what's around and get some advise on where to go. Thanks!

Patterned mine in the bedroom ceiling when I was a teenager. Not much spread at all, really. Could see the streetlight through my ceiling/roof after that! Fixed (read rigged) it while Mom was still at work and nobody ever knew about it until the roof was replaced and the roofer found the patch and inquired... Copenhagen lid jammed in the decking with blue gasket sealer squirted all over it and a shingle worked in and squished in place.

You cant shoot anything but slugs at SSCG, and most indoor ranges, skeet shot tends to bounce around and tear up the range gear.

I would check out Tom Lowe.
I've pattered buck there and a few rounds of birdshot on several occasions ..I asked first.. and they said it was ok but keep the shots low.
