Where did you take Basic training or Boot Camp?

Ft Bliss, El Paso - late 1986.

Oh, to be that young again!

Spent two weeks in the desert in pup tents learning how to shoot and throw hand grenades.

Heard you should never volunteer in basic and it was Thanksgiving and they asked for volunteers and I thought it would make the day pass faster. Turns out the volunteers got to go to church with volunteer host families and then had Thanksgiving dinner with the host families. It was wonderful.

Then off to Ft Sam Houston, San Antonio, for AIT.

Spent about a year in the National Guard and when I went back to college I joined ROTC at So Tech/Kennesaw and got commissioned in '88 and went to Aberdeen Proving Grounds.

During one of the PT tests at APG in the winter - after finishing the two mile run I reached up and I had ice in my mustache. Good times.

Ft. Jackson 95.
We had Drill Cadets included as cadre from West Point, one per company.
Not particularly difficult.
The Drill Sergeants were very good.
The highlight was I got a positive counciling statement for cleaning the latrine.
One day if I find it it will be framed.
