Which would you rather have and why?

Watch for premature excessive wear on the locking lugs on the bolt. Also watch for wear in the channel on the bolt carrier that the lug from the bolt rides in. Also look for excessive wear on the bolt carrier tail where it strike the hammer on its backward stroke. If a Tapco G2 FCG is in the rifle, it will probably beat the tail on the bolt carrier up pretty badly. It probably has something to do with improper heat treating, but I'm no expert on the subject. Hopefully you'll be lucky and get one of the good ones.

I'm Darwin... I think I'm just going to pass on the century and the AK all together for awhile. The whole reason I wanted the Century C39V2 was the quality feel of the milled receiver and with the magpul furniture it felt so solid and really nice... after reading so many posts about the BCG and all I think I'll pass... My AR15's, Mini' and other rifles will do me fine for now.

Arsenal Feels cheep in my hands but supposedly good quality, but expensive
Century, Feels QUALITY in my hands but has issues, mid priced...

You guys worrying about AK quality here is a lesson in KNOWN goods...
Mak90...slant or straight cut...almost always great guns
Arsenals- Stamped or milled doesn't matter and they are great guns

Both of these in my opinions are safe options for the AK neophyte. AK's are no different than ARs in that you have a lot of variance and fly by night people out there...We have Franken-AR's just like we do on the AK.

The rule is:
You get what you pay for....and you DON"T get what you don't pay for.

If you will spend $1000 on an AR then do yourself a favor and look at doing the same on an AK--PLUS---- 7.62x39 is MUCH cheaper than 5.56 so you still come out better.

I don't blame you. Check out DDI if you're inclined to look a little more.

Will keep looking a bit but I'm in no hurry, just hate the cheap feel of a stamped receiver and the Arsenals are 1000-$1500 bucks... if it looked as good, felt as solid and as nice as a Mini 30, AR15, M1A Socom II, then I wouldn't mind paying that kind of money for it, but since it's a cheap somewhat junky feeling rifle to me I can't justify that kind of cost.

I repaired new AK and the bolt hung half way down the guide channel's. I had to polish the hammer and the channels until I was blue in the face. I also had to remove quite a bit of material off the hammer. Finally it would cycle properly. Dont know what kind it was but it took some doing to get it running. My quess a home build. That turned me off AKs. Not the problem just the cheapness of the overall construction. It shot it alot but I couldnt hit the side of a barn with it and I can half way shoot.

Ok so what would be a good ak around 7-800 dollars and anyone know a good place somewhat close to Dallas?

The newer WASRs are good. Also, check out Atlantic Firearms website. They usually have a great selection. I'd stay away from Century's American made AKs, some are great, some aren't and show a lot of premature wear on the bolt, bolt carrier, and front trunnion. Their imported rifles are fine though. Stay away from IO altogether.

This one looks nice. I'd buy it if I were in the market. Century Arms N-PAP AK47 RIFLE RI2087-N

The WASR AK 47 Rifle WASR 10 7.62x39mm QC INSPECTED

I'd probably go this route if they weren't sold out. M70 ABM Milled AK47 Underfolding Rifle RI2198-X
