Planning tactically for a basic defensive a 3:1 ratio is the minimum considered adequate to be successful. A 5:1 ratio is best however. There are always exceptions and training, equipment, terrain, weather and tactics all play a part of success or failure.
My concern is that a (one) marginally trained, obese, rent-a-cop more concerned with yapping away on a cell or young attractive teacher will be my daughter's first line and only real immediate defense.
