My local gun store has several that have been ruined. Would have been nice rifles but they were "converted". Oh well, at least they aren't assault rifles anymore................right??????

these military surplus rifles were much cheaper to buy then new commercial firearms, thus people simply made them look like the modern commercial firearms as it was not "cool: to carry a military rifle hunting.
The rifles could have also reminded many veterans of less then pleasant times so they turned them into more pleasant sights to them to get food on the table

When I was a teen, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, almost every gun shop had a bunch of cut down Krag deer rifles. None were ever priced higher than $25.00.
I have a sore shoulder and ringing ears just reading that. Hasn't the enfield been through enough ?
