Why do you still shoot a Glock?

If a cop is coming at me with a 1911, I’d immediately assume he knows how to shoot. If the same cop comes at me with a Glock, I’d immediately assume his gun is going to work.

If a cop were coming at me with any firearm I'd assume my dog was in imminent danger.

I wish I had 2 them. One to crap on and one to cover it up with!!! I honestly can't see the fad. It's a plastic handgun that some government agencies adopted and some where seen in movies. Then everybody went out and bought one of the ugliest guns ever produced and thought and think they have a wicked handgun. It's a 600 dollar low tier pistol. That's all. There are better looking handguns that are just as reliable and made out of steel. That is all!

It's not a fad. These guns have been running since the 80's, so almost half a century coming up. (I know, the 80's really are that long ago. Wild)

Some government agencies? According to google (whatever that's worth) it's approximately 65%, down from what used to be closer to 80%. And ironically enough, when they aren't using Glock, guess what they're using...... S&W or SIG's version of a Glock......

It's 600 bucks for a tool that will do what it's meant to and nothing extra. I'd say that's more than sufficient. But yeah, they ain't no beauty queens. I'll certainly agree to that.

There are indeed better looking handguns that are just as reliable and made out of steel.... but they're probably a rip-off of the overall Glock design and generally more expensive. If you want slick lines and hyper performance, get a sports car and pay that price tag. You just need to get where you're going? Used Camry or Civic and pay cash.


I'm not even a Glock fanboy, although that spiel might give evidence to the contrary, but I can't understand being anti-Glock when almost every company now makes their version of a Glock. And what nearly every credible worldwide government issues to their military and LE. It changed the game much like how Browning did at the turn of the century.

Put down your stones to throw for heresy, Browning is unequivocally more influential than Gaston in overall design advancements across the board.

I run a glock for the same reason that we all(almost) run AR-15's. The parts are plentiful, they are exceedingly reliable with minimal maintenance and more importantly, they are the least expensive GTW pistol i can buy brand new(Blue label).

For enjoyment, i much prefer other guns! But I put my life on a glock for a quite a few years and have no qualms with continuing to do so.

Completely agree with all of these statements. I've owned one Glock (I think it was a Glock 19 Gen 3), which I ended up selling within a few months. I liked it, but wasn't in love with it; plus, I knew I would be in a money pit with the modifications I was considering doing.

Having said that, Glock has set the bar for reliable and durable. It is, arguably, the most recognizable handgun ever built and it has withstood the tests of time (literally and figuratively). You can shoot it, throw it in a safe for a year, and then shoot it again and there won't be a difference in performance. Not to mention, the aftermarket parts for Glock is just insane; it is the AR-15 of handguns in terms of aftermarket.

Is it my cup of tea as becoming my EDC? I'm not going to say yes or no, but will say it was a serious contender when I had my last one and I would still seriously consider it again in the future should I ever get the itch to try my luck again with it. I'm in the midst of switching over from my Masada to an FN Reflex XL, though my wife's all-steel Baby Desert Eagle is probably the best handgun I have ever fired.

Serious answer. Reliability, affordability, fantastic track record. It's a system you can bet your life on. It's reasonably affordable. Extremely well tested. It is super simple. Yes you can trick it out with all the crazy Gucci parts but that's not why I use and carry it.

The only thing I would substitute a Glock for is an HK USP
