Just wondering why it is so well liked and came onto the market so fast. I see it has a slightly higher ballistic coefficient VS 308 but is that the deciding factor?

I have reloading manuals that go back the 40s and even earlier. That wheel has been reinvented at least 2 dozen times. That's like 300 blackout. I played with it a little and then realized it didn't do a gaddam thing a .40 carbine wouldn't do a hell of a lot cheaper.

it was one of the first that allowed folks to shoot LONG bullets(mainly because the 6.5 ALWAYS shot LONG bullets)....now, EVERYBODY wants to shoot LONG bullets!!! Anybody can shoot LONG bullets, all they have to do is set up the rifle to shoot LONG bullets....I have one...only one...it doesn't shoot that good....I have a .284 that does shoot LONG bullets, and will do it much better that the 6.5

A 6.5x55SE in a CZ550 was my first taste of understanding what a 6.5 in a heavy for caliber bullet can do on game animals at moderate velocities with modest, acceptable recoil from any shooting situation.

Since, the family has added two creedmoor chamberings that have proven excitingly accurate and again when shooting heavy for caliber ammunition it performs exceptionally well.

But does it do anything better than a host of other chamberings; not really.

I'm actually on the hunt for my wife a 6.5...
