Why Port a Glock 26 Slide?

Can anyone tell me the benefit of backyard-gunsmithing enthusiasts porting sub-compact pistols intended for EDC? It seems like it would create more problems with snagging with no intrinsic functionality benefits outside of 'Looking TactiCool'.

I'm not knocking the look of them, and the one in the photo was professionally ported. Just curious on the benefits from a shooting perspective. To me t would seem like lightening the front of an already short pistol could increase recoil.

Recoil on a EDC ? Who cares as long as the handgun is comfortable/light enough to WANT to wear it. For the 1% chance in your lifetime that you may need to actually "fire" it self defense, well... I sorta doubt you'll be concerned about the extra snap.

There's always one joker in the crowd that's gotta derail the thread with common sense and logic.
