Why the 1911 for EDC...

nope always a big negative from me, biggest reason for me has nothing to do with 9mm vs 45 or any of that junk, i just simply will not carry a single action hammer fired gun, that applies to any type

I carry a 1911 but that is out of personal preference. That may differ from many folk's preference. Whatever you choose to carry makes no matter to me, choose whats the best fit for you. I am intimately familiar with my CCW and can shoot it accurately. That is what matters the most.

Have to agree with pretty much everything. I've never found any handgun I shoot better than a 1911. Easy to conceal, good at stopping arguments. If I could only have one handgun it would be the old warhorse .45 I've had almost 50 years.
And, unlike one of the people who responded to that article, I kind of like the way the gun torques when that old 230gr hardball departs the barrel.

I carry a Ruger 1911 but I have always carried a 1911 up until a few months ago when I got a Sig P320 9mm.
I carry a 1911 because I shoot it well and I like the way it feels in my hand, also I am very familiar with this pistol and Practice with it all the time.
As stated above I now carry a Sig p320 as well because I like the way it shoots and I shoot it well too (I did not start carrying the Sig till I was comfortable with handling it and shooting it).
I think 9mm vs .45 is just what you like in my opinion. I did not make the choice for 1911's because of the size of a bullet, I made my decision because I shoot it well YMMV.

The 1911 is the most accurate pistol I’ve ever shot. The grip angle and weight/balance just work well for me. But, it’s not an EDC option for me. Too heavy for my comfort level and I don’t like the idea of having to disengage a safety before firing in an emergency situation. But that’s just my personal preference.

I'm also in agreement with this. I've been carrying a 4" Wilson Combat for the last 18 years, carried a few different 1911's for some years before that. My first two carry guns were a S&W 439 & Browning HP. For me the 1911 is just easier to conceal and I shoot it better than any other pistol I've ever owned. I also have a Colt XSE Lightweight Govt. Model .45 that I carry occasionally. I do own a G19 and I like it too but I rarely ever carry it, I like all kinds of pistols and revolvers but the 1911 is my go to gun when I leave the house 99.9% of the time. Just my personal preference, YMMV.

I too carry a 1911 on occasion. It's flat, packs neatly in the rig and I can shoot it well. I've been shooting 1911s since 1994 and have grown pretty fond of them. I carry mine with 230gr.FMJ ball ammo - Just like God and JMB intended. The single action hammer cocked safety on never bothered me.
