Why to NOT Buy From *Cheaper Than Dirt*

Wow, I’ve been buying from them. I had no idea if this since I’m pretty new (2years) into the shooting game. Thank you for bringing this to our attention

The largest suck that pulled them down the drain was when they canceled back orders when they got stock, which they then listed for sale at 10x price of the canceled orders.
I wasn't aware of this but I'm not surprised.I quit buying from them during the last ammo crisis when they had .22lr but required your first born son and a 2nd mortgage to get it. Boycott'em and lets put'em out on their a@@. Joe

Quite a few people I know had cases of .223 or 5.56 (don't remember which now) that was back ordered for quite some time, then all the back orders were canceled and the ammo was listed as in stock for $$$. When contacted , CTD just told them that if they want some ammo, buy at the new price.

The problem wasn't (really) 'price gouging'. If people are dumb enough to pay $100 for a PMAG, so be it.

They did pull some shady business practices, like cancelling PMAG orders placed pre-Sandy Hook so they could sell them at their new, inflated price.

In the end what should keep you from buying anything from them is the same garbage Disk's Sporting Goods pulled. They came out with a huge press release about how they were taking ARs out of their stores, and would never sell another one... until they realized how much money they could make if they did.

Both these companies pulled this trick, and I've never even been tempted to do business with them afterwards. In fact I actively try and steer people away from both of them.

I remember they were asking 24 dollars for what is now 6.99. That would have been PMC or something of that nature. After Sandy Hook they marked everything up. Anything that was normally considered a high volume sale item the marked up to ridiculous prices. Not to mention their shipping cost. None of that is for me. There are far to many vendors out there to buy from and get a decent price and a reasonable shipping.
