Kennedy (JFK, the democrat that endorsed tax cuts, and whose administration actually considered dropping nukes on the north Vietnamese) wanted to push us to space and, subsequently, the moon for some big props and a big "F.U.!" to the USSR.
The Soviets via their spies had already stolen a crapload of intel, including data on building nuclear bombs. Kennedy was not a big commie loving socialist like the modern DNC. He disliked and loathed the commies and wanted to look like he was swinging the biggest shtick in the world.
America was still the commercial top dog. We had money to burn. So we burned it as rocket fuel.
Getting to the moon first, and ultimately, as the only manned landings, we showed the USSR that we could indeed out "science" them (and that Kennedy's shtick was bigger, but not a big as Johnson's, apparently).
Remember, in the 60's everything was possible. We envisioned colonies on the moon, and the soviet buggers envisioned weapons on the moon.
Slide rules and punchcards + a ****load of human grit and determination (including accepting the awful loss of life) + the huge budget = moon landing.

What’s worse is the ones who believe that the earth is round.
Any fool could tell that the people living ‘’down under’’ would just fall off and be lost in space.
Is NASA not a captured regulatory system with a high profit motive? 200+ billion for the past 10 years is pretty big sum of money albeit not like coronu. I agree with the laws of physics. They are laws and not theories. Back to my first point I'm simply at the place of anything I'm told from the mainstream narrative which is handed down from Government is the opposite of true most of the time. I can't believe anything that they say and that is very sad.
The earth is spinning at 1000+ miles per hour. It's going around the sun at 66,600 mph and the solar systemis orbiting the milky way at around 400,000 mph. Even with the stars being anywhere from a couple light years to a couple hundred I would think we would see stars at a different place then our ancestors from early records.
Respectfully I would much rather take a dumb person who questions as opposed to an intellectual who just blatantly agrees. Then again the more that I learn and know the more I realize I don't knowI love some of these threads.
It shows how damn dumb our population can be even after education of a decent standard. lol
