wtf is the southern ocean? i hate you scientific community

was watching some show, announcer mentioned the area a ship was in was the "southern ocean"

wtf? ive never heard of this. i know the artic, the pacific, the indian, and the atlantic. so i turn to google

evidently this was a thing invented in 2000, after i learned the basics and i guess it was never brought up in my marine bio classes.

damnit science. first you take away pluto as a planet, and some assholes classify aves (brids) as ****ing retiles, and im still not sure where we are on the atomic model (what is it covalent shells, neat little tracks, or electron clouds?); now they hit me with an extra ocean for no ****ing reason

Last I learned the clouds were showing the space that the electron could be in and it worked with the shells.
