You know most 30-30s and lever guns in general suck and can't hit a pie plate at 100 yards.

I have a 1922 built Marlin model 93 that has to be something because it was made with "Special Smokeless Steel".
1922, I think that means the smelter foreman at the steel plant didn't have his customary cigar clamped in his jaw the particular day that billet spit out.

This thread is hurting my feelings. The absolute worst gun trade I ever made involved a pristine 1968 Marlin 336c-30/30. I justified the trade in my mind because I only gave $150 for the Marlin. I've wished 100 times I'd never traded that rifle off.
The prices will eventually come back down and then a lot of people are going to feel pretty sad about spending $2500 for a $900 rifle.

I'm hoping to get my hands on one of these before deer season. I feel like it's gonna be the perfect little optic to sit on top of the 35rem.

Been considering chopping the barrel and magtube down to 16" too.
Do it. I did an old Glenfield 60 just like that. I even cut the barrel and tube off with a hacksaw. Faced it off and bought a hand tool to recess and crown the barrel. I then put a 1913 scout rail on it with a red dot and BUIS. Stained the stock and dark grey. Wish I'd never gotten rid of it. There's a thread on here somewhere about it.

Chuck Connors made every kid want a lever gun.
