I'm going to update my clothing this year during the off season. I mainly just want to get something that can withstand the cold better, but not be overly puffy. The Magellan jacket that I have right now can keep my warm, but I can't bow hunt in it at all.
What is everyone's favorite brand...
They are absolute life savers in the early season when the mosquitos are still around. I have used one for the past 3 seasons and the deer haven't paid it any attention.
I finally broke down and bought a couple of the M150 hang on stands for this upcoming season. My question now is attaching them. It looks like Millennium has an awesome quick mount thing, but they offer it in both chain and a ratchet strap.
For those of you who use them, which do you prefer...
It's a bit of a drive, but try Apple Valley in Jefferson. They are a phenomenal processor. I take all of my deer there. And their jalapeno cheddar slim jims are amazing. I haven't had their jerky yet, but the deer I took last week I am having them do that.
My experience could have just been with the round though. Lots of people on the interwebs swear by the round for hunting at short ranges. I'm of the mindset that I should at least have a blood trail to track no matter what.
I used my 300 Blackout 10.5" pistol this season and took 2 deer with it. One at 15-20 yards, the other at about 60 yards. I have a Holosun red dot with a Vortex 3x magnifier. My 15 yard shot made it 30 yards before piling up, never lost sight of her. Heart shot. ZERO blood trail, not that I...
You don't have to worry about buying 2. On Amazon, the case that is sold with it has a spot for extra fuel and extra pads. I also just have a spare bottle of fuel and an extra pad still in the foil and swap to them in the field if I run out.
I'll only go into a ground blind during a rain. I've got a Barnett Big Cat and it's plenty roomy for me and a buddy. Get a Thermacell and you won't have to worry about mosquitoes. I haven't been bitten by one yet this year.
Got the call from corp of engineers today around 1pm that I was selected for the Buford Dam hunt this year. First year that I've even entered into it too!
Anyone hunted this before and if so, what's your experiences? I've heard that there are some big guys out there. I'm hoping to go pay my...
How do you guys stay comfortable in your long sits in a tree stand. I really only have the problem in lock on or ladder stands that don't have back support. I bought some of the cheap Walmart Ameristep ladders at the end of last year and I was hurting after a few hours on opening weekend. My...
Mine too. I have 6 bucks on cam at one of my feeders. Only one of them is a a shooter though.
Another 2 big boys I have on camera are still having their bromance. Mine are still in velvet too, they need to shed that stuff before September!
Has anyone here purchased a lifetime license for an infant under 2 years old? How did it go and what was required? My wife just had our twins this past weekend and I'm contemplating getting one in the near future. Thanks!
Now that deer season has come to a close, I want to go ahead and hopefully find a few stands on sale in expectation of next year. This year I've been using nothing but a climber (Summit Titan) for hunting from above. I'd like to pick up a few hang on stands for next season. The biggest reason...
