They do, but every time a major ammo maker tools up for the fad cartridges it increases their costs and reduces the capacity to produce rounds in calibers people actually shoot in volume ;)
Why not ask him ? His response, (whether correct, or not), will tell you if he'll fuss about it. Just get a decently powerful air rifle designed for hunting, not something puny that will just wound and cause suffering.
