    I think you need to up gun a bit then. Personally, if I plan on killing something living I want it to be humane, regardless of the species.

    Why not ask him ? His response, (whether correct, or not), will tell you if he'll fuss about it. Just get a decently powerful air rifle designed for hunting, not something puny that will just wound and cause suffering.
