MUNCIE - Terry Miles, 7, sheepishly handed the white envelope to the mayor.

Inside was a letter, written in pencil and signed in green marker.

Mayor Dennis Tyler read the letter aloud.

“Dear Mayor, I want to ask an important question. People have been shooting at night and I want to ask you ‘Can you make them stop?’ I want to meet this man who told the other people to shoot guns because it is inappropriate to shoot guns. Terry Miles.”

Scaife wasted no time.

“Everybody knows that guns are really bad, right?”

“Yes!” the kids shouted.

One little girl raised her hand. “Can you do anything about the shooting?”

Scaife said that if the police are called and “we do find them and we know they have been shooting, we will arrest them and make them go to jail and make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

“Sometimes it’s legitimate to carry a gun, but you should always tell your parents when you see one,” Vollmar said, adding that people must have permits.
“I don’t like it but they can do it,” Tyler added. “Guns scare me.”

The children nodded in agreement.

This has been a long term strategy that has been in play since the early 90s. The constant guns are bad message is spoon fed to kids in schools, TV shows, movies, books and magazines. It is repetitive enough that by the time the kids grow up and are old enough to buy a firearm they have enough of an irrational fear of guns that they stay away. They parrot the bull**** they have been fed their whole life and feel it is their job to continue the nonsense. No guns, no violence.
