Never owned one. I had a choice of mature woods and some clear cut on my property. 30-06 in the trees, 25-06 overlooking the clear cut. I made some long shots over that clear cut.
Yep. I have a shooting house that was built when my land was clear cut many years ago before I bought it. It has an assortment of shells in it

And all I've ever used was the old Remington Core Lokt.

180 PSP In the 06.

150 SP in the 270. The heaviest I could find at the time.
I did find a couple deer I shot with the 270.

But I like that instant gratification of watching that buck drop right where he stands, before the sound of the shot ever hits his ears.
That Core Lokt ammo is as good as you need in Ga. The 7mm-08 Encore I hunted with last shot it good, always a deer down. Good stuff.

My primary hunting rifle that gets carried out with me 99% of the time is an M77 MKii in .270. After putting a Timney trigger in it driving tacks is no problem. If I do my job it does it's job.

I had a buddy that minute of milk jug at 100 yards was good enough for him.
Man that's not right. Good way to blow a deer's leg off or injure them in other ways. 2 inches of spread at 100 would be my max leeway. But all my hunting rifles cloverleaf at 100. Anything less and I wouldn't use them.

That is an ethical hunter. At least in my mind. Most lever actions may only shoot 2 MOA. I've had a few do better. A small amount much better

My Dad hit a 5 gal bucket @ 35yds. He said good enough...... :doh:I guess my precision days started when I was a kid. I had a BB gun and a single shot 410. You gots to be on it if you want your prey
When we were kids and used to go camping on some of the little islands off Tybee, everybody had a .22 or a .410.
Except this one kid who was the envy of us all with his Savage .22/.410 over/under.
