1911 diminishing returns

I totally agree with mattmatt300. 1000-1500 is the tipping point. Function vs. low production hi dollar 1911's just get stupid expensive. To a avid collector the price may be worth it but in return for your dollar defensive wise just isn't there unless you are a hard core competitive shooter. Then all the upgrades could come in handy. For right around a 1000 a Springfield A1 loaded is hard to beat and will do anything the more expensive one will do. I bought a Remington R1 long slide in 10mm and it's very reliable and accurate gun. With ballistics that equal a 41 mag the 10mm is a cannon. I also have a S&W E-Series 1911 in 45 and handling and shooting those guns it's hard to see where another 1000 to 1500 on top of what I have in those just doesn't seem the return would be worth the difference. I mean some of these custom 1911's are 2500 to 3000 grand and that point you are not getting a whole lot for that mark up.
