You can use any stripped upper to build. It's no different than a regular upper but you don't install a gas system since its blowback operated. A 22 AR barrel won't have a gas port.

Honestly, not quite sure. Standard ejection port cover fit fine. I'll have to compare it to another stripped upper, which I don't currently have

Another option is what i did. Just get a S&W M&P 15-22 and cut the barrel. I love this thing.
