Where was this Rifle manufactured?

Using the info I linked, and if I read your serial number correctly as 34490, your SMLE was manufactured at BSA Shirley.

It went through a "Factory Through Repair" FTY in July 1953. http://www.allaboutenfields.co.nz/history/markings/

Factory Through Repair its a rifle that is sent back to one of the Factories and it is stripped down and subjected to a stringent visual, gauged and metallurgical examination against the original factory tolerances. Every part that goes back, including the barrel must conform to an 80% new life. Its a process of overhaul and upgrade of old worn or outdated parts.

We called them being rearsenaled/overhauled at depots like Letterkenny etc.

I knew what “FTR” designated, but didn’t realize that the “753” was the date. Cool! Thanks for the info.
