That one spot of blood looked like it had a bubble. Seems real bright though. Give him some time then start looking. If it was a pass through, eventually the cavity will fill up with blood and the trail should get better.

I wouldn't give up! I know a lot of people spend more time shooting dead flat. You might want to consider spending more time shooting out of a stand at different ranges and mark trees for yardage reference in the off-season. Maybe a broadhead change. That coagulated lump looks like tissue so maybe a broad head change might help. Just dig in and spend more time preparing in the off-season. After thinking over it for a bit that's really the only advice I can give at this point. Just make an exhaustive search for this one.
